5 Things You Didn’t Know About Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino

Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino is one of the more well-known casinos in Las Vegas.

However, while so many people travel to Mandalay for its awesome gambling, stylish rooms and epic clubs, there’s so much you probably didn’t know about the great Mandalay Bay, and we’re here to show you the excellent options for you to have fun while you’re visiting.

5. There’s A Massive Aquarium Located Inside Mandalay Bay

Vegas might be miles away from the ocean, but Mandalay Bay has sea lovers covered thanks to Shark Reef Aquarium.

“Shark Reef aquarium is the home of over 2,000 animals including the saw fish, giant rays, endangered green sea turtles, piranha, jellyfish and the rare golden crocodile. This unique exhibit gives you the chance to dive with a higher concentration of exotic sharks than you’d ever find in the wild. Become an Aquarist for a day and feed our stingrays, shark or turtle in our Animal Encounters program. Shark Reef Aquarium is introducing their newest exhibit – the world premiere of Polar Journey, An Interactive Adventure. Open for a limited time, this interactive experience gives guests a glimpse into the Earth’s polar regions and the animals that call them home.”

4. Mandalay Bay Convention Center Is One Of The Largest Convention Centers In North America

The Mandalay Bay Convention Center is MASSIVE. In fact, it “is the fifth largest in North America with more than 2 million square feet of meeting and exhibit space including the recently added 350,000 square feet of exhibit space that debuted in January 2016.”

3. It’s Home To The ‘Coolest Experience In Town’

The Vegas heat might be unbearable for some. Lucky for those people, Mandalay Bay is home to the Minus5 Ice Lounge, which might as well be the coolest (literally and figuratively) place on the Strip.

From the ice glasses all the way to the couches, the Minus5 Ice Lounge is a bar made of ice, and it’s the perfect place to cool down (and grab a cocktail) during the day, or night, in Las Vegas.

2. Mandalay Bay Has A Venue That Combines A Pool Party Scene With An Epic Nightlife Atmosphere

Enter DAYLIGHT Beach Club.

While DAYLIGHT hosts big-time artists on a weekly basis during the day, it’s the venue’s ECLIPSE night swim that should have everyone’s attention, as it literally combines the pool party scene with the nightlife/club scene. Think of this: Being able to swim at the club. Yeah, that’s kind of what ECLIPSE is like.

1. A ‘Rocky’ Movie Was Shot At Mandalay

For all of the movie buffs out there, and especially Rocky fans, Rocky Balboa was shot in none other than Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. The scene involving Rocky’s last fight against Mason Dixon was shot in the sports arena.

Ocean’s Eleven and Ocean’s Thirteen were also shot in Mandalay Bay, just to name a couple others.
